Nutrisystem is a weight loss food plan in which the food you eat (much of it anyway) is delivered right to your door every week so that you don’t have to worry about getting the wrong kinds of food and can lose weight steadily. Nutrisystem makes much of the diet process automated so that you don’t have to worry about your grocery list and you can concentrate on exercise and eating right.
Nutrisystem has had mixed reviews. On the one hand, it certainly does seem to promote weight loss, but on the other hand, the food component of this diet may leave something to be desired. With that in mind, let’s take a closer look at this diet of convenience and then you can decide if it’s right for you.
|Pros of Nutrisystem||Problems with Nutrisystem|
The main benefit of Nutrisystem is that it is incredibly convenient. The food is delivered weekly right to your door and it mostly consists of carefully portioned frozen meals which you can zap in the microwave and canned foods. You have to provide your own fruits and vegetables to supplement your meals. The meals are created to be low gylcemic meals with the idea that this will prevent your blood sugar from bouncing all over creation and thus keep you from snacking and eating junky foods.
Whether or not a low glycemic diet actually helps you lose weight is out to the jury, but a high fibre, low sugar diet is always a good thing and Nutrisystem delvers that. Furthermore, many dieters have found success with this system and they are pretty happy with it.
The fact that the food is also portioned out helps too; most people eat too much and don’t even realize it and Nutrisystem forces them to rethink portion sizes; something that dieters can take away even after they are done with Nutrisystem.
What makes Nutrisystem great for some people makes it bad for others: the food. If you have a family to feed, Nutrisystem will not fit the bill. And if you like food that hasn’t be zapped, then this is decidedly not the diet for you. There have been complaints about the food tasting like cardboard, looking unappealing, and the fact that fresh food isn’t included in the box (since fresh fruits and veggie would of course be impractical to ship half way across the country in a parcel box!)
Nutrisystem is also a bit pricey: at its cheapest, you’re looking at over a hundred dollars a month and you still have to provide your own fresh fruits and veggies (and milk as well). This means that considering how Nutrisystem is mostly geared towards singles and couples, you’re not really saving much in groceries, just in time.
If you’re single or in a relationship but no family; you don’t mind frozen food and you have the money to pay every month, then Nutrisystem may be highly beneficial to you. If on the other hand, you want a diet plan that lets you cook what you like and teaches you how to exercise well to boot, it may be time to give Abs Guru a shot!
We here at Abs Guru give Nutrisystem a good, but not great grade and suggest looking at our work too!
Good luck in your weight loss journey.
