For many people, the key to sticking with their ab exercises is having a routine that they can easily do at home without the need of gym equipment or weights. Still, you need weights or resistance to give your ab exercise workout the intensity to build muscles you need to get a firm stomach. One method that you can use is one that has been around for quite a while. You can get a great workout when you do your abs exercises using a medicine ball.
Medicine balls have been used to develop muscles and power, especially for athletics, for many years. It can help you build strength and develop your core muscles. You probably know that sit-ups alone aren’t the only exercises for abs that you need in order to develop six pack abs. However, they do serve a purpose and when you do your sit-ups with a medicine ball, you will get even more from your ab exercises.
To do medicine ball sit-ups, lie on your back with knees bent and feet flat on the floor. Start with a five pound medicine ball and hold it to your chest. Have a partner stand at your feet or hook them underneath a heavy piece of furniture. If using a partner, throw the ball to them as you curl up and have them throw it back to you. If working alone, extend the ball out in front of you as you curl up and then return it to your chest as you roll back down. Repeat until you do ten reps to start and then gradually increase the number of reps as you repeat the workout.
Another one of the ab exercises you can do with the medicine ball is the Russian Twist. Start sitting on the floor with your feet flat on the floor and your body at about a 45 degree angle, holding the ball out in front of you. Hold your lower body still while you twist your body to either side. Increase the intensity by leaning further towards the floor as you increase your strength.
